Qualities of a Volunteer

 

A Volunteer is:

 

A person in whom others can freely confide, knowing that confidentiality is a priority on their list of values.

A person who willingly shares time, energy and talents with others.

A person who can accept others as they are, rather than the way that person thinks others ought to be.

A person who can allow others to express their own feelings without telling them how they should or shouldn’t feel.

A person who can sit quietly with others when they can’t put their hurts into words.

A person who cares about others, and reaches out to lend a helping hand and a listening ear.

Why Be a Volunteer?

 

It is not for money, it is not to feign,
It is not for any personal gain.

It is just for love of your fellow man,
It is just to give a helping hand.

It is just to give a little of one’s self,
That is something you can’t buy with wealth.

It is not for a medal worn with pride,
It is for that feeling deep inside.

It is that reward down in your heart,
It is that feeling that you have been a part
Of helping people far and near
That makes you a volunteer.
